Love opens the heart. It is the key to intimacy. There is a difference between love and falling in love. He is not selfish but disinterested. God is love and gave what was precious to Him, his only begotten son to show us that he loves us and how to express love. We need to be complete emotionally, spiritually, and in our soul (mind, will, and emotions). There are four different types of love. The highest form of is Agape; This is the way God loves us.
* Agape is unconditional love
* Storge – empathy bond; pleasing someone through the affection of familiarity, family members or people who are related in a family way
* Phileo – bond of friendship; the love between friends as close as brothers in strength and duration
* Eros – erotic bond; a feeling of ‘being in love’ or ‘loving’ someone, romantic love as opposed to raw sexuality
Maturity is required to love someone, as well as the ability to forgive. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 is the love chapter of the Bible that defines what mature love does. It’s how I measure if someone loves me and when I say I love someone.
